This simple to implement packet can constitute your entire lesson. It is equipped with the objective, guided practice, group work, independent challenge page, as well as an Exit Ticket as a quick formative assessment. The lesson identifies rules for students to complete number patterns using addition and subtraction.
On this assessment, students will answer twenty five questions related to greater than, less than, equal to as well as ordering numbers based on place value from least to greatest and greatest to least.
2.NBT.A.4, 3.NBT.A.1, 4.NBT.A.2
Check out this highly engaging and competitive mental math exercise for students to build their addition and subtraction fluency! Students will practice a coaching cycle in which each of the two partners have a copy of the paper in front of them (or modified to only the coaching partner holding it) and the student will talk the other student through the 4 mental math operations. Each of the 3 squares has four components that will all be added to each other. (For example if a box has a 12, 23 14 and 20 in it the student will say add 12 and 23 then use the 45 and add 14. Now take your 59 and add 2 to the tens place. The partner without the paper is expected to be solving this in their head and write down the final sum). Throughout the coaching cycle the partner supporting the other is not supposed to give the answer but rather help their partner solve and then offer feedback as they do so. Once complete for "Round 1" the partners swap and the other student completes "Round 2".
This can be easily adapted to competitions with timers and races for who can finish first. There are three questions for each student and there are a total of 10 variations included. Each page is numbered and correlates to an attached answer key in the second half of the document. Students will develop their addition and subtraction fluency while having a blast!

This packet is full of guided notes, independent work, homework, exit tickets and more! The worksheets cover measuring mass, and measuring length. Students will be forced to think critically, apply what they learn, and even use a ruler for some portions.
With this fifteen question worksheet, students will apply their knowledge of exponents, multiplying to the 0 power, the 1 power and to a variety of others that don't have specific rules.

Check out this awesome interactive guided notes activity. Students will have a reference point to refer to as they apply their understanding of measuring in inches and feet and when to do so. The first page allows them to simply compare length of items. They will then estimate the length of some items. The second page then pushes student to decide which unit of measurement they should use, and allows them to explore the world around them with various estimations in feet and inches.
This activity can easily be differentiated to meet students' needs. Additionally, students the activity can be adapted for whole group instruction, small group, or independent practice.
In order to build students' understanding of different units of measurement and the tools associated with collecting those data points, this simple and student-friendly guided notes organizer will allow students to create their own reference point. To take this graphic organizer to the next level, students will be required to convert from one unit to another. The last page includes the answer key for your convenience :)
This all inclusive lesson plan pacs a big hit and students will love the student centered exploratory component of this hands on learning! Students will interact with content at four different stations in which they will build, cut, create, and identify polygons, angles, triangles, and three dimensional shapes. You will need some supplies to make this as effective as possible including scissors, glue, straws (pipe cleaners, toothpicks, or cut popsicles sticks will do), as well as construction paper (or colored paper).
